“About that Road”, Acrylic 18 x 24, on Gallery Wrapped canvas.
SOLD

is in honor of the “down-dropped block” at Kilauea. Many of us have driven on that dropped down bit of road and stood at the vanished overlook into a different Halemaumau crater, and this makes for deep thoughts as our ephemeral natures brush up against geologic time. The old road is visible in the left/middle of the painting if you zoom in. This painting is based on visit in early December 2021. I highly recommend binoculars if you visit this spot!

The collapse occurred in 2018. To Quote the USGS https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/vsc/file_mngr/file-204/367.full.pdf "A total of 62 collapse events occurred between May and early August."
