Kealakekua 9 x 12 gouache
on arches paper

Manini Beach is a well hidden delight. This was begun on location and finished at home, which is a two hours + drive away. The bird in the front is a Kolea or Pacific Golden Plover. They migrate here every year, as do the Wandering Tatler - the bird out on the rock. They often seem to hang out together. The plant in the foreground is Naupaka which offers food and refuge to a variety of life.

Shade and High Tide - Hapuna South
Acrylic 8 x 10 on Gallery Wrapped canvas

https://www.janewordtaylor.com/ I have been coming to this beach for 70 years, so my paintings tend to include memories that mix over time. When I was a child we would camp there and be the only people. The puddle in the middle of the beach only happens when the tide is very high. Birds and children love it. The trees along the South end of the beach are mostly fallen now, but people still seek shade along the edge of the cliff.
